Educational Visits

Huntstile Farm

Children love the farm! It’s a wonderful place full of life and a great introduction to where food comes from.

We have a large polytunnel where we grow salads and tender crops, a large kitchen garden garden with a selection of salads and vegetables and we have livestock too: cows, pigs and chickens as well as these friendly pet goats, pictured above.

Our orchards are full of apple, pear and plum trees and at certain times of year we press the apples for juice. Our field crops are mainly organic cereals such as wheat, barley and oats – we have a small flour mill for demonstrations.

Hand-washing facilities are plentiful (in accordance with advice given in HSE information leaflet 23 regarding farm visits) and there is a lovely indoor room to eat lunch or snacks. We are registered with the local Health & Safety Executive and the Environmental Health Dept. and we have Public Liability and all appropriate Employers Liability Insurances.

If you would like to visit with your school or pre-school group please contact Lizzie or Lindsey for further information.

Workshops

Learn a new skill, or brush up on an old one with a Huntstile Workshop.

We run a series of friendly ‘hands on’ workshops with expert tuition from the best in the field, fully catered and fully residential, if required.  Our most popular workshops are Sausage Making and Beekeeping, and we run courses throughout the year - check out our upcoming workshops here.

Four of us attended a sausage making class run by Martin, at Huntstile Farm and had an amazing day! Martin pitched the day just right and we had great fun making our sausages, and were really quite proud of our achievements! He was really interesting, very patient and very knowledgeable.
