Food! …Eating Well at Huntstile

We believe that everyone has the right to delicious, lovely, natural food that is untouched by mad scientists!
We are all passionate about locally grown, well-produced, quality food – our lives revolve around it. Preparing, cooking and sharing good food with our friends and family is one of our favourite ways to spend time. We enjoy sourcing good food and serving it to guests, friends, family – we don’t go looking for special ‘awards’ but we do spend time making sure that what we eat is good for us. ~ Our little cafe area at Huntstile is where we serve breakfast to our guests and with a little notice we will happily provide lunches and suppers as well from Tuesdays to Saturdays. We were recently awarded 5 stars for our food, hygiene and safety standards.Based in the former stables and hay loft, this is where the farming family and workers have eaten for over a hundred years. We have no fixed menu, however we do have an abundance of delicious locally produced fare.
There are some wonderful local suppliers in this area including organic meat and poultry producers:
- Stream Farm at Broomfield who also supply organic trout from their spring-fed lake and delicious award winning organic chicken
- Richard Plowright at Stowey Rocks Organic Farm who grows amazing vegetables, soft fruit and salads
- These compliment our own home-grown vegetables, salads, edible flowers, soft fruit and top fruit that we tend in our kitchen gardens, as well as our home produced pork, duck and chicken – fresh and organic, naturally the best!
We take a lot of pride in the food we serve, preparing food with love and care for our guests is our pleasure and we hope that you will share in our enjoyment.
Suppers are 3 courses of ‘Plat de Jour’ or Dish or the Day. We have tasty dishes of locally grown, fresh seasonal meat or fish and vegetarian options served with a selection of seasonal vegatables or salads, homemade puddings and organic teas and coffee.
At Huntstile we specialise in delicious traditional recipes from across the globe, some have been passed on from our mothers and grandmothers and some recipes imparted to us by the lovely people we have had the pleasure of working with at Huntstile over the years.
- If you have any dislikes, preferences or intolerances please be sure to mention this to us at the time of booking and we will endeavour to please. We decide on our menus each morning to take advantage of the freshest and best choices, and, because of our limited menus it may not be possible for us to supply a substitution on the day.
