Wow! What a turn out!!

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Open Farm Sunday last weekend, the weather held out until the last tractor & trailer ride to the stone circle was coming down the hill (almost!). The Somerset shire horses looked stunning in the paddock…and I can’t wait for a certain lady’s wedding, when she will be taken up to the stone circle in their pretty carriage (but sshhh! its a secret and she doesn’t know yet! 😉

Sam was back and forth to the oven baking more and more delicious organic scones throughout the afternoon as the turn-out was much higher than we expected, which was wonderful. There were games for children (Chris Brammel from Natural England, brought along some wildlife matching games) there was REAL Mr Potato Head competition (with…yes…REAL POTATOES!) a ‘matching-food-to-the-animal’ game, as well as face painting (thank you Rachel & Hannnah), Chris from Quantock Abbey Wine Cellars doing a wine-tasting, flowers from Marshmallow Flowers and of course the scrumptious cream teas a la Huntstile not to mention our first bottling of this seasons organic elderflower cordial….its a go here!

The ‘Green Team’ (on the left here A.K.A. ‘us’) were all on our best behaviour,  imparting some good organic knowledge (big thank you to Hugh Warmington from the Cothelstone Estate) and our pet porkers Esther, Maggie and Rose (below) were  happy as pigs in…a new paddock!

If you missed this Open Farm Sunday don’t worry, there will be others – and besides, we love children and dogs-on-leads coming to visit and we are here most days, however it’s always best to give us a call first to check we are around the farm. If we are not, just have a walk up to the stone circle…its so pretty with stunning views, nature in its finest moment and peaceful tranquility.
